Mining Memories to Build Characters with Salima Alikhan

As writers for children and young adults, we have access to a whole treasure trove of information that can help us make our characters sing with authenticity and our plots ring with truth: our own memories. Salima Alikhan will help us access those.

Salima Alikhan has been an author and illustrator for fifteen years. She lives in Austin, Texas, where she writes and illustrates children’s books. She's also a college English and creative writing professor. Her books and art can be found online at www.salimaalikhan.net. Her latest book is Soraya and the Mermaid.
